Spring Chickens

We got 8 new baby chicks!  Red star laying hens.  I would have preferred Americana's, which were our first and favorite chicken breed, but this was all they had today at our Tractor Supply, and Nolan could barely cope with the thought of having to wait another day for chickens.  He has had this plan in his head since December, I think, and has a single chick named Wolf, and another named Lips.     I think Nolan named another one Egg Salad... for real.  That kid needs no prompting and produces amazing names every single time.  Sadie named one Lucy, which is equally as cute and perfectly her.

These chicks are a hit, and their presence is a reminder that Spring is here. I'm beginning to hear birdsong in the morning, too.  These sounds, they evoke super peaceful feelings in me... like sunrise, I think, when all night there's a part of me that just feels forgotten and nervous, and then the sun comes up... as promised.  Maybe that's the ginormous pessimist in me.  All is well.  When the birds come back, it is that kind of relief for me.

On a different subject, I have gotten quite a few inquiries for photography sessions over the past few weeks.  I am hugely grateful for this experience, and hope to produce something really special for some of you.  But - I'm afraid, at this point, I will have to discontinue offering free sessions.  I have yet to update that section of this blog, but hope to do so this weekend.  Bear with me in the meantime, and feel free to message me if you have any questions!

Happy Spring.  I hope this season brings you a content and happy heart.
